Diets Don't Work!

Are you one of those people that have a New Year's resolution that includes dieting and weight loss.

Before you start any restrictive regime that includes calorie counting and buying low fat foods, then consider these points:

  • As many as 90% of dieters fail to reach their target weight.
  • Following fad diets can be dangerous.
  • If weight loss is achieved then it is very difficult to maintain that loss.
  • Many dieters will end up even heavier then when they first started with an uneven distribution of body fat.
  • Why Nutrition does not advocate dieting!

Instead Why Nutrition provides:

  • A weight management programme that includes healthy eating, realistic and achievable goals while taking into account the individual's lifestyle.
  • Any emotional issues around eating will need to be addressed (it is not possible for some to 'just lose weight').
  • The balance and type of carbohydrates, proteins and fats need to be met for the body's metabolism to function optimally.
  • Careful consideration to the nutrient value of foods that ensure deficiencies will not become a problem.
  • Treat any underlying digestive conditions that could affect the absorption of vitamins and minerals from foods.

In a nutshell:

There is no 'quick fix' to weight loss - it is much better to adopt a healthy eating approach that takes into account your overall well-being, short and long term health.
